Overview

I created a kinetic typography piece synchronized with NewJeans' song "Get Up".

This project visually expresses the song's rhythm and energy through dynamic typography, aiming to create an impactful experience. I focused on synchronizing movement with the music, maintaining design consistency, and ensuring readability.

Research

Before starting the project, I researched kinetic typography trends and reference works.

　・Typography & Color Study – Selected fonts and a color palette that match the mood of "Get Up."

　・NewJeans' Visual Concept – Analyzed the group's aesthetic to reflect their style in the design.

　・Motion Style Analysis – Explored rhythmic movements, text transformations, and fluid animations 

　　　　　　　　　　　　　   that complement music.

Storyboard

I created a storyboard to map out the flow of the animation based on the song’s rhythm and lyrics.

　・Scene composition – We decided on the movement that would fit each phrase.

　・Expressing Lyrics Through Motion – Matched animations to the meaning of the lyrics.

　・Visual flow – We designed the layout and movement of the text to guide the viewer’s eye

I used After Effects to complete the project, focusing on the following:

　・Effects and Transitions – Applied easing and transitions for a smooth visual flow.​

What I Learned...

Through this project, I gained a deeper understanding of kinetic typography and its role in enhancing storytelling. I learned how to effectively synchronize music and movement to ensure animation matches rhythm and meaning.

Planning with storyboards and style frames helped me create a more structured and cohesive design. Additionally, I honed my After Effects skills, from precise timing to optimizing rendering for smooth playback.

​

This experience taught me the importance of balancing creativity and clarity to deliver a compelling visual experience.
